(LESTERVILLE, Mo.) – During the Lesterville Bearcats‘ 79-35 victory over Valley Caledonia on Wednesday night, junior Holden Laughman eclipsed the 1,000-point mark for his career. Laughman needed 17 points to reach the milestone and ended up putting in 20 before the end of the third quarter. Laughman said he knew he was getting close, but kept focusing on the game itself.

Laughman credited a lot of his improvement to his first-year head coach Anthony Caruso, who said he’s lucky to have a player like Laughman on his team.

Despite reaching the 1,000-point plateau, Laughman said he still has some things left to accomplish in his basketball career.

Laughman is actually the second Lesterville boys basketball player to reach 1,000 career points this season. Senior Riley Mathes reached the mark on Jan. 3 in a game against East Carter. The Bearcats start district tournament play Saturday against Bell City.
