Licking and Ava Move on in Class 3 Sectionals
STEELVILLE 45 – 51 LICKING
(Rolla, Mo.) THE LICKING LADY WILDCATS BEAT THE STEELVILLE LADY CARDINALS THIS EVENING 51-45 IN THE SECTIONAL ROUND OF THE CLASS 3 STATE PLAYOFFS. SOPHOMORE NAOMI PERKINS HIT THREE TRIPLES IN THE SECOND QUARTER TO KEEP STEELVILLE CLOSE HEADING INTO THE LOCKER ROOM.
PERKINS WASN’T DONE YET. SHE CAUGHT THE BALL IN THE CORNER AS THE CLOCK TICKED UNDER A MINUTE TO PLAY.
NAOMI PERKINS FINISHED WITH 21 POINTS AND SPLASHED IN 6 THREE POINTERS IN THE LOSS. THE CARDINALS FINISH THE SEASON 22-6, WHILE LICKING’S SEASON CONTINUES SATURDAY MARCH 7TH AT THE FARMINGTON CIVIC CENTER FOR A QUARTERFINAL MATCH UP AGAINST SAXONY LUTHERAN.
ST. PIUS 56 – 57 AVA
THE AVA BEARS DEFEATED THE ST.PIUS LANCERS 57-56 TONIGHT (WEDNESDAY) IN THE FIRST ROUND OF THE BOYS CLASS 3 STATE TOURNAMENT. ST PIUS SENIOR ELI BOYER PUT UP 7 POINTS IN THE SECOND QUARTER INCLUDING A THREE LATE TO CUT THE DEFICIT TO THREE GOING INTO HALFTIME.
ST. PIUS HAD THE BALL LATE WITH THE GAME TIED AND A CHANCE TO GET THE LAST SHOT, BUT IN A FLASH THEY SAW THEIR SEASON END.
ELI BOYER FINISHED WITH 15 POINTS WHILE KAYDEN COOK FINISHED WITH 19.
EVEN THOUGH THEIR SEASON CAME TO AN END, ST. PIUS HEAD COACH CHRIS MILLER SAYS HE’S PROUD OF THE EFFORT TONIGHT.
THE LANCERS FINISH THEIR SEASON 21-8. AVA IMPROVES TO 24-5 AND WILL PLAY #3 CHARLESTON IN THE CLASS 3 QUARTERFINALS SATURDAY IN FARMINGTON.
