Local Golfer Shines at Missouri State Amateur Golf Championship

(Hollister, Mo.) Nick Westrich is no stranger to sitting near the top of leader boards during golf tournaments. The Farmington High School grad and current Central Missouri Mule sits in 5th place after day 2 of qualifying at the 113th Missouri State Amateur Golf Championship after rounds of 73 and 67. Westrich posted 5 bogies and 3 birdies on Tuesday, but was able to bounce back yesterday with a bogey-free round and coupled in 4 birdies. With the top-5 placement after the qualifying rounds he gets an automatic bye into the second round of match play which starts today. Westrich tees of in his first round of match play at 12:03 p.m. against an opponent yet to be determined.
