Local Incumbents are Majority of First Day/First Week Filers

(Jefferson City) Tuesday was the first day you could file to run for statewide positions, state senator, state representative, U.S. senator, congress and countywide office positions.

Two current state representatives filed on opening day.

One of them is Mike McGirl of Potosi.

State Representative Chris Dinkins of Lesterville also filed on the first day.

As of right now, McGirl, a republican, will have competition in November for the 118th state rep seat.

Democrat Sally Brooks of Cadet also filed on opening day for the 118th.

Dinkins currently has no challengers in the 144th.

Also, current republican state representatives, Dale Wright of Farmington has filed in the 116th, Mike Henderson of Desloge has filed in the 117th, Ron Copeland of Salem has filed in the 120th, Cindi Bucheit-Courtway has filed in the 115th.

As of right now, no one has challenged those incumbents.
