Local police department’s training on active shooter situations

(Festus/Crystal City) Officers with the Festus and Crystal City Police Department’s have been undergoing active shooter training especially when it comes to a shooter situation involving schools.

Crystal City Police Captain Mike Pruneau says with school starting for many next week, police need to be prepared if an unfortunate shooting event were to occur.

Captain Pruneau mentions road patrol officers are also going through active shooter training.

Recently the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office held its active shooter training.

The training was held at Northwest High School in Cedar Hill and was staggered out over a few weeks so that every member of the agency could be trained.
