Class 3 volleyball sectionals and quarterfinals wrapped up on Saturday with a quartet of Festus, Ste. Genevieve, Lutheran South, and Rosati-Kain.

The first match saw the Festus Tigers advance past the Ste. Genevieve Dragons in the sectional round, winning in straight sets by final scores in both sets of 25-23.

The two teams found themselves in a tight battle to the end the first set, but the Tigers finally grabbed the lead and kept it.

In the second set, Festus broke out to an 11-4 lead, but Ste. Gen stormed back to tie the set.
Eventually though, the Tigers emerged at the end and converted on match point.

Tigers head coach Karen Biehle was glad to see her players fight through a tough match to make it to the quarterfinals.

The second match of the night saw the Lutheran South Lancers dominate the Rosati-Kain Kougers in a sweep by a final score of 25-17, 25-6.
That result set up the final match of the night between Festus and Lutheran South with a chance to advance to next week’s semifinals.
The Lancers came out with their hair on fire to blow past the Tigers 25-11 in set number one.

The second set proved to be much more competitive, but in the end Lutheran South was too much, advancing to the semis after a 25-20 victory.
