(Ste. Genevieve) The MAAA baseball tournament championship between Valle Catholic and Central is going down Saturday morning at Yank’s Field in Ste. Genevieve and you can listen to the game on AM-800 KREI.

The 14-3 Central Rebels staved off a 7th inning, two-out rally to beat Ste. Genevieve 4-3 on Wednesday. The Rebels have played in three games this season that have been decided by one run and they’ve won all three.

Central coach Ronnie Calvird says they’ll need to find a way to win against the top-seeded Warriors.

Valle Catholic’s ability to find ways to win was displayed on Wednesday. The 22-6 Warriors were getting shutout in the 5th inning against Potosi in the quarterfinals but ended up winning 5-4 on a walk-off. Then, in the semifinal against West County, the Warriors were down 2-0 in the 5th but came back to win 4-2.

Valle coach Nate Gegg was proud of his teams’ resiliency.
