MAAA Boys’ Conference Championship Game To Resume

The MAAA boys’ conference championship game between Ste. Genevieve and Central is set to resume this Saturday, February 18 at noon, Ste. Genevieve announced on social media.

The game initially began last Saturday, February 11, but was halted with 3:45 remaining in the second quarter when Ste. Genevieve guard Ricky Hunter passed out on the bench during a timeout. Though he regained consciousness quickly and was taken to the hospital, the decision was made to postpone the game. Ste. Genevieve athletic director Jeff Nix told the Ste. Genevieve Herald that the players “were not in the correct frame of mind to play.”

Hunter announced in a tweet on Sunday evening that he is doing better and thanked members of the community for their encouragement.

At the time of the stoppage on Saturday, Central led Ste. Genevieve by a score of 33-17. The game will be picked up from that point and will be played from Central rather than the previous site of Mineral Area College. It will be broadcast on J98 and mymoinfo.com.
