MAAA Conference Girls Championship and 3rd Place Games Tip Off Tonight on J-98
For the second straight year North County and Central will meet in the championship of the girls MAAA Conference tournament. Last year the Lady Rebels won 46-32. Head coach of the #4 seed Lady Raiders Zac McVey says he’s just focusing on his team before the game.
The Lady Raiders beat West County in the quarters and then upset the #1 seed Lady Dragons of Ste. Genevieve 52-34 to make it to this point.
The Lady Rebels beat Potosi 70-53 and Farmington 46-23 to advance to the championship for the second straight year. However, head coach Josh Mapes thinks North County’s size is going to give them fits.
Central topped North County earlier this season in MAAA conference play 64-36. Coverage of the girls MAAA conference championship game begins at 6:45 with the Flieg’s Equipment Pregame show on J-98.
The first game of the night will see the Ste. Genevieve Dragons meet the Farmington Knightettes in the 3rd place game of the MAAA conference tournament. Farmington avenged their early season loss with a win over Arcadia Valley in the quarters 43-38, but could not get enough offense going against the Lady Rebels in the semis. However, head coach Rusty Sancegraw was pleased with his team’s defensive effort and hopes that carries over to their next game.
The first time these two teams met it went in favor of the Lady Dragons by a score of 63-48.
The Lady Dragons suffered their first loss of the season in the semis to North County 52-34. Head coach Jordanna Walk-Robison thinks it’s going to be tough going against such a deep team and thinks her girls will have more motivation now with a loss out of the way.
Coverage for the 3rd place game of the MAAA conference tournament begins at 3:45 with the Flieg’s Equipment Pregame Show on J-98.
