MAAA Schools Closing Wednesday Due to Coronavirus Concerns

(Farmington, Mo.) The superintendents of MAAA schools released a joint statement Sunday evening announcing that all their schools will be closing their doors for several weeks due to the coronavirus.

The announcement states “all MAAA schools, as well as our preschool programs, will be closed beginning Wednesday, March 18th… we tentatively plan on welcoming students and staff back on Monday, April 6th.”

No decision has been made as of yet regarding sports and extracurricular activities with the statement saying “we are waiting for guidance from MSHSAA related to athletics and activities.”

The decision to close all MAAA schools comes at the recommendation of local health authorities and aligns with similar actions being taken to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 by neighboring school districts, including those in Jefferson and St. Louis counties.
