MAAA Softball Tournament to Begin Monday
The MAAA Softball Tournament is next week and some of the best teams in the area square off for a conference championship. Ste. Genevieve is the top seed, with a 9-6 record heading into their first game Monday. They will also have home field advantage throughout the tournament. Manager Becky Keim says consistency is the name of the game.
The first test of the tournament for Ste. Genevieve is Kingston, who is 0-8 on the season.
The 2 seed belongs to the Valle Catholic Lady Warriors, currently sitting at 8-2. Manager Kurt Basler says the difference in the tournament could come down to who makes the least amount of mistakes.
Valle Catholic will face 7-seed Arcadia Valley, who is currently winless.
The 3-seed belongs to the 9-5 Central Lady Rebels, who have won six of their last seven games entering the tournament. They’ll face 6-seed Potosi in the first round, who they defeated 17-4 earlier in the season.
The 4-seed West County Lady Bulldogs will play 5-seed Bismarck.
The MAAA Softball Tournament opens Monday with all four first round matchups. Semifinals will then take place on Tuesday. The championship game, along with the third, fifth, and seventh place games will all take place on Thursday, with the highest seeds hosting the games. We’ll broadcast the championship game Thursday night, which will be at 6 p.m. on AM 800 KREI.
