MAAA Takes Both Games at JCAA vs MAAA All-Star Event

(Park Hills) The MAAA swept the JCAA vs MAAA All-Star Event by winning both all-star games at Mineral Area College this evening on J98.
The girls game was first and the MAAA team with three All-State players ran away with it by a final score of 91-34.
Arcadia Valley’s Gracee Smith paved the way as she was named the game’s MVP.
Smith finished with a game-high 23 points.
After the game, she said it was certainly a memorable experience.
The other leading scorers for the MAAA were Central’s Kaley Kimball and Sophia Horton who finished with 19 and 17 respectively.
The JCAA was led in scoring by Crystal City’s Annie Waites who had 12.
In the boys’ game, the MAAA prevailed 65-57.
On a night when both teams came ready to play defense, Farmington’s Jacob Jarvis provided a big boost off the bench.
In addition to his usual hustle, Jarvis scored a game-high 11 points off the bench was the game’s MVP.
But, even in an All-Star game, he said he was concerned with one statistic: a win.
DeSoto’s Aidan Blair and St. Vincent’s John Wibbenmeyer lead the JCAA with 9 points each.
The three-point contests were competitive as well.
Horton beat out Smith 21-16 on the girls side, and it was Windsor’s Sonny Amabile who edged St. Vincent’s John Wibbenmeyer 14-13 on the boys side.
Then Horton knocked off Amabile in the contest of the girls vs the boys 22-15.
