MAC Men Sweep Season Series With Moberly, MAC Ladies Get Swept

(Park Hills) For the third time this season the Mineral Area College basketball teams split with Moberly. The MAC men swept the regular season series with a 71-53 win and the Ladies lost 64-62.

Moberly had been away from game action for 12 days and came out with energy. The Greyhounds led 37-33 at the half. MAC forced six Greyhound turnovers in the first seven possessions to start the second half and outscored Moberly 34-16 over the final 20 minutes. Malevy Leons outscored the Greyhounds 17-16 after the break and finished with 23 points…

MAC assistant coach Tim Walsh says the Cardinals turned up the heat in the second half.

The Cardinals moved up a spot to second ranked in the country earlier in the day and ended the day at 16-0.

The MAC women turned in their most inspiring effort of the year and pushed 14th ranked Moberly to the final seconds. The Greyhounds went out early 7-2, but MAC led by seven points midway through the first half. Quincy Erickson powered the offense with 13 first half points….

Erickson finished with 19 points and five made threes.

MAC built a 10 point lead at 60-50 with five minutes to go, but Moberly closed with a 14-2 run for the victory. The Cardinals did have a chance to win it at the end…

The MAC women fall to 6-11 on the year and 4-7 in Region 16 play.
