(Moberly) The Mineral Area College basketball teams face a stiff challenge this weekend as they visit Moberly to tangle with the Greyhounds. The winners in both games will stand at the top of the Region 16 standings. The MAC men are ranked 3rd in the country and are undefeated at 19-0. However, Moberly knocked off the Cardinals three times last year and appear to have hit their stride. The Greyhounds started out at 10-4, but have now won seven in a row including a 14 point win at State Fair and a 35 point dismantling of Three Rivers. MAC assistant coach Tim Walsh says the Greyhounds are tough enough, but playing them at their place will be even harder…..

The Greyhounds are riding a 25 game regular season winning streak in Region 16. The last team to beat them was Mineral Area College.

The women’s game will be the second meeting between the two teams, but the first one this year that counts in the Region 16 standings. MAC beat Moberly by two points at a shootout at State Fair earlier in the season. MAC assistant coach Briley Palmer worries a little about the size of the Greyhounds, but says that can be counteracted with consistent intensity…

The Cardinals go on the road at 17-4 and 2-1 in Region 16. Moberly stands 16-3 and 2-0 in Region 16. We’ll have the games on the air on AM 800 KREI starting with the women’s Fliegs Equipment Pregame Show at 4:45 Saturday.
