(Park Hills)  The Mineral Area College Cardinals lost their fifth game in a row, 6-5 in extra innings to the St.Louis Community College Archers Sunday afternoon at Hal Loughary field in Park Hills, and then snapped the skid with a 10-5 win in the second game.

The Archers burst out front scoring the first four runs of the game. MAC attempted a late innings comeback.

Dylan Thomas went for three for four, with four runs driven in on the day, including this two run blast in the bottom of the sixth.

MAC was able to tie it up with a single by Liam Hicks in the bottom of the seventh inning to send it to the eighth.

However the cardinals surrendered an unearned run on an error in the top of the eighth inning and couldn’t come up with the equalizer in the bottom of the frame.

Coach Jordan Thompson says the team got close in the first game and finally broke through in the second.

The Cardinals end the day 19-9 on the season and 7-9 in region 16 play. St.Louis Community College is now 10-17.
