MAC Cross Country Top Dogs Again

(Fort Dodge, Ia.) The Mineral Area College men’s cross country team are once again top dogs as they won the NJCAA DIII national title for the second straight year today. The Cardinals took four of the top six places in the meet with all six of their runners earning all american status within the top-15. MAC also had two women running as Hailey Cortez (10th) and Nani Brewington (13th) also brought home all american honors. Head coach Steve Davis says the weather in Fort Dodge, Iowa was not pristine, but his team got the job done.

Donovan Denslow and Wyatt Elliott were the top two finishers for MAC as they placed first and second in the meet. Last year, they took third and fourth in nationals, but coach Davis says their eyes were on the prize this season.

The MAC men finished with 18 points, just three points shy of the perfect score of 15 for the meet. MAC did not have enough girls to field a whole team this year, however, they still had two all americans in Hailey Cortez and Nani Brewington.

The other runners for the MAC men were Kyle Vinyard (4th), Caleb Wicklund (6th), Alex Ahrens (10th) and Jacob Arnold (15th). Full results from the men’s race can be found here. Full results from the women’s race can be found here.
