MAC Men Sweep Region 16 Regular Season and Tournament Titles

(Park Hills) The Mineral Area College men’s basketball team completed a regular season and tournament sweep of Region 16 titles with a 66-56  win over Moberly at the Bob Sechrest Fieldhouse in Park Hills. The second ranked Cardinals remain undefeated at 22-0.

Moberly raced out to a 17-11 advantage, but MAC went on an 18-5 push to go up by seven. The Greyhounds scored the final seven points of the first half to tie it at 29. Moberly led 45-42 with 11 minutes left, when the Cardinals came up with the decisive run, a 24-8 sprint to the end. Terrion Murdix tied it….

And Malevy Leons delivered the dagger…

Leons led the team with 17.

Coach Luke Strege couldn’t have been happier for his team…

MAC heads to Triton for a district playoff game Saturday and then off to the national tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas.

Four Cardinals have been named 1st team all region: Malevy Leons, Terrion Murdix, Kevin Stone, and Keonte Jones.

Luke Strege is the Region 16 Coach of the Year and Leons is the Region Player of the Year.
