MAC Men defeat State Fair 90-83

The Mineral Area College men’s basketball team advanced to the region 16 title game with a 90-83 overtime win over State Fair at Jason Gym in Jefferson City. State Fair scored first, but MAC scored the next nine and never trailed again in regulation. The RoadRunners tied it at 77 all and sent it to overtime deadlocked at 79. State Fair took its only other lead by scoring first in the extra session. Point guard Keyyaun Batchman led the Cardinals in points with 22 and in toughness plays…..

Angelo Stuart pumped in 20. Tristian Mullens had 16 and Malevy Leons scored 15 with five blocks.
The Cardinals led by 12 at 72-60, but State Fair went on a 10-0 run to get back into it. The region 16 leading scorer Darmaria Franklin scored 21 in the loss.
MAC coach Luke Strege was impressed with his team’s resolve….

The fifth ranked Cardinals improve to 30-1 and will play for the region 16 tournament championship Saturday on J-98. The Fliegs Equipment pregame show starts at around 5:45.
