MAC Basketball Teams Garner Postseason Honors
(Park Hills) Postseason honors have started to roll in for the Mineral Area College Basketball teams. Angelo Stuart was named the Region 16 Player of the Year. He averaged 18 points per game to lead the Cardinals to a 30-2 record and a regular season co-championship in Region 16. His scoring output was second in the region. Keyyaun Batchman and Malevy Leons joined Stuart on the first team and Terrion Murdix earned second team honors. Coach Luke Strege says they’re also good in the classroom…
Murdix was among the leaders in the nation in both steals and assists before suffering a season ending knee injury. Batchman took over at the point after the injury. Leons was among the nation’s leaders in blocked shots. All four players averaged double figures in scoring.
Strege says many of these honors he expected to come next year, so in some ways this team is a year ahead…
All four freshman also earned all conference distinction.
The MAC men finished the regular season ranked 13th.
The 20-10 MAC women also placed three players on the All Region 16 team. Maysn McWilliams and Natalia Lalic earned first time honors and Keanna Williams received a second team nod. McWilliams finished the season 18th in the country in scoring with 19.5 points per game.
