MAC Men Win Region 16 Tourney Opener

The Mineral Area College men’s basketball team advanced to the semifinals of the Region 16 tournament by beating State Fair for the third time this season, 91-81 at the Bob Sechrest Fieldhouse in Park Hills. MAC went up 19-6 and eventually took 22 point first half lead behind some hot shooting from Patrick Strzala….

The Cardinals pushed their lead all the way up to 27 points just a few minutes into the second half, 53-26.

Steve Wooten lit up the Bob with a second half breakaway…

And then right after that David Kachelries did him one better….

Kachelries led all scorers with 26. Strzala and Yahuza Rasas poured in 23 apiece. Steve Wooten had nine with 10 rebounds and Gabe O’Neal grabbed 15 boards with eight points.

MAC improves to 23-8 on the season will play top seeded and regular season Region 16 champ Moberly Thursday at 6:00 in Jefferson City.
