Despite a strong season, the book has closed on the Mineral Area College men’s basketball team this year after MAC couldn’t contain Moberly and fell 104-78 tonight (Thursday) in the semifinals of the Region 16 tournament in Jefferson City as heard on KREI. The Cardinals were able to hang tough in the first half thanks to big plays from players like Patrick Strzala.

But even after keeping the game tied up at 44 at halftime, MAC could only hold off the Greyhounds for so long, and a 27-5 run after the game was tied at 47 ultimately allowed Moberly to sieze control.

The Cardinals did finish with 5 players scoring in double figures, including a team-high 18 from David Kachelries, but Cardinals coach Luke Strege says his team was out of gas at the end.

While Moberly improves to 25-6 and heads to the Region 16 championship game, Mineral Area College has the 2018-19 campaign end with a record of 24-9.
