Despite a big second-half run, the Mineral Area College women’s basketball team couldn’t knock off Three Rivers and dropped an 82-68 home game Saturday night as heard on KREI. The Cardinals fell behind 42-30 at halftime in a big-time showdown in Region 16 and trailed by as much as 17 in the third quarter, but a 24-6 run sparked by Holly Forbes and Masyn McWilliams put MAC on top for the first time all night:

But despite a head of steam heading into the fourth quarter, the Cardinals couldn’t slow down Haille Erickson down the stretch, and her 21 points propelled the Raiders to the win and a Region 16 regular season championship after improving to 23-3 overall. Forbes had a monster night to earn Applebee’s Player of the Game with 27 points and 16 rebounds, which Cardinals assistant coach Briley Palmer credited with getting MAC back in the game:
