(PARK HILLS, Mo.) – The Mineral Area College women’s basketball team captured their first Region 16 victory Saturday afternoon, as they beat Crowder at home 63-50 on J-98.

After losing 2 straight and surrendering 96 points in each of those contests, defense was an emphasis in this one for MAC.

It was Tyeshia Mitchell setting the tone early and often, as the sophomore was in the passing lanes all day long.

Mitchell put in 14 points to go along with the great defense and was our Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game.

Assistant coach Briley Palmer describes how surrendering just 50 points after giving up nearly 100 in back-to-back fashion feels…

Masyn McWilliams paced the Cards with 20 points, all in quarters two through four.

Keanna Williams and Shanti Henry also had 9 points.

On the side of Crowder, Makayla White led the charge with 15.

The Roughriders drop to 10-8 and 0-1 in Region 16 play.

They’ll play Evangel University JV next on Wednesday.

For MAC, their record improves to 12-6 overall and 1-1 in Region 16.

The Cardinals next travel to Jefferson College for a rivalry game on Wednesday.

We’ll have the game on AM 800 KREI and AM 1400 KJFF with pregame beginning at 4:45.
