MAC’s D vs Cowley’s O In Round of 8

(Hutchinson, KS) The Mineral Area College men’s basketball team claimed the program’s first ever win at the national tournament Tuesday with a three point decision over Hutchinson. On Thursday the Cardinals look to advance to the final four. They’ll play the Cowley County Tigers, who earned their first win at nationals in 64 years.

MAC’s defense has been the proverbial immovable object this year, leading the country in points against. The Cardinals have given up only 60 points per game. They’ll face the irresistible force as Cowley leads the country in points scored at nearly 110 per game. MAC coach Luke Strege says the Tigers will try to make it a track meet…

The Tigers broke the record for threes in a national tournament game with 22 in their 134-107 win over Trinity Valley in the round of 16. It was the most combined points ever scored in a national  tournament game. MAC is the one seed in the tournament and the only undefeated team at 24-0. Cowley comes in a 22-4. We’ll be on the air Thursday at 11:45 with your Fliegs Equipment pregame show on J-98.
