Man, formerly of Imperial, convicted of Sodomy & Rape

A man formerly of Imperial was convicted by a jury in Jefferson County Court on May 4th for having sexual contact with a minor.

John Vitale has been convicted of three counts of Statutory Sodomy in the 1st Degree and three counts of Statutory Rape in the 1st Degree.

The victim was under the age of 12 at the time of the offenses which occurred between May 31st, 2010 and July 11, 2013 at Vitale’s residence in Imperial.

The case was prosecuted by First Assistant Travis Partney and the jury trial was heard before Judge Vic Melenbrink.

Sentencing is set for July 22nd. Vitale faces up to life in prison without the possibility of parole on each count.
