(Marquand, Mo.) Like every other school in the area, the Marquand-Zion School District is closing their doors for several weeks in an effort to limit the potential spread of the coronavirus.

District Superintendent Scott Blake says everything is being postponed which has prompted questions on some of the bigger events in the district.

Blake says while they are away, the district will be expanding their weekend backpack program to offer meals to students who need them.

With a lack of reliable internet and cell phone service in the area, Blake says e-learning was a non-option for their students.

The Marquand-Zion School District is tentatively planning to resume in-person classes on Monday, April 6th.
