Martin Gives Update on Mineral Area College Soccer

(Park Hills, Mo.) The wheels are in motion for Mineral Area College soccer’s inaugural season this fall but not without some speed bumps due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Head coach of both the men’s and women’s soccer teams at MAC, Dan Martin says he was able to finish up the men’s roster before the pandemic but is still filling out the women’s roster.

With COVID-19 limiting access to student-athletes, Martin says recruiting has been challenging.

MAC student-athletes won’t be allowed back on campus until July 31st and it will be a quick turnaround for the soccer team as their preseason begins the following day on August 1st. Martin says they will have to hit the ground running.

With no high school girls season and the inability to coach MAC’s incoming players this summer, Martin says he can not wait to get back on the pitch.

The MAC men’s and women’s soccer teams will begin the season in an exhibition game at William Woods University on August 19th.

The Cardinals then begin the regular season at home on August 25th against Metropolitan Community College with the women kicking off at 3 and the men to follow at 5.
