McGirl Says House Supplemental Budget Proposal Would Fund Medicaid Expansion & Education

(Jefferson City) The Missouri House of Representatives have taken the first step in allocating funds for Medicaid expansion that Missouri voters approved a couple years ago.

State Representative Mike McGirl of Potosi says this was part of the House’s supplemental state budget that was passed last week.

Missouri is also the only state in the nation that has not authorized the release of nearly 2-billion dollars in coronavirus federal funds to the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education which will be doled out to K through 12 school districts.

Representative McGirl says the House finally got the ball rolling on that last week which is also a part of the House’s supplemental budget proposal.

The House supplemental budget also includes the regular funding for public education which was 2.8 billion dollars.

Still, the wait will continue before any of the money in the House supplemental budget proposal can be used.

The State Senate still has to approve it and the governor will have to agree to the plan.
