Melvin Scherrer Sentenced

(Farmington) Melvin Scherrer has been sentenced to life in prison for the crime of murder in the second degree.

A St. Francois County jury found Scherrer guilty back in February.

He was sentenced to the maximum penalty on all counts, including 15 years for armed criminal action, 7 years and a five thousand dollar fine for felonious restraint and 4 years and a five thousand dollar fine for abandonment of a corpse.

The sentences will run consecutive for a total of 56 years in the department of corrections.

Scherrer was charged in connection with the death of Samuel “Tick” Francis back in December of 2012.
