Handler Alan Lamb and canine Tex are 1 of only 5 handlers/canines in the MDC Canine Unit.

(East Central/Southeast Missouri) The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) has organized a canine unit for the first time in department history.

Agent Alan Lamb and canine Tex, who patrols southeast Missouri’s Madison County, is the closest canine unit to the St. Louis region.

Lamb says Tex and other dogs in the canine unit have official commissions through the MDC’s Protection Division.

Across the state the canines will assist conservation agents in multiple ways. One such way is being able to aid in the search of a missing person.
