Missouri Education Commissioner visits Jefferson County Schools

(Herculaneum, Crystal City, Hillsboro) Missouri Education Commissioner Margie Vandeven paid a visit to Jefferson County on Tuesday as she made stops at the Dunklin Early Childhood Center, Crystal City Elementary and Hillsboro Primary. March is “Read Across America” month and Vandeven read to the students in those schools. According to Dunklin R-5 Superintendent Clint Freeman, it was good to have the commissioner on campus.

Freeman says he wanted Vandeven to seen the district’s Early Childhood Center.

Vandeven was appointed commissioner of elementary and secondary education by the Missouri State Board of Education in December 2014 and served in that capacity until December 2017. She was reappointed to the position in January 2019.
