Missouri Governor Ending Federal Unemployment Benefits

(Jefferson City) Missourians without jobs are about to see a significant reduction in their unemployment checks.

Governor Mike Parson says Missouri will be ending federal pandemic-related jobless benefits starting June 12th.

A growing list of Republican governors are putting an end to the 300-dollar weekly unemployment aid from the feds.

The State will also deny federal program funding that extended pandemic benefits to gig workers, like Uber and Lyft drivers, and the self-employed.

Meanwhile, St. Louis Congresswoman Cori Bush is blasting the governor on stopping the federal unemployment benefits.

Bush tweets that Governor Parson is “hurting people.”

She also says the governor “refused to address COVID in St. Louis” and refused to implement a mask mandate.
