(Jefferson City) Wednesday Governor Mike Parson announced that Missouri would be partnering with health care performance improvement company Vizient. The partnership plans to bring in 600 new beds to the state wide bed capacity. Missouri Hospital Association President Herb Kuhn says hospitalization and infection rates continue to rise in all parts the state and that makes if difficult for hospitals to treat patients.

Kuhn says that the partnership will help people who need urgent, life saving care, and not just patients with COVID, but anyone who may need help.

Governor Parson applauded Missourians on their awareness during the Thanksgiving holiday. He cited traffic levels being down as evidence for less travel over the holiday. However, Kuhn gave some numbers that show we still need to stay vigilant as we head toward the December holidays.

The plan, with Vizient, lasts 12 weeks and will be partly paid for by CARES Act funds form the state.
