Missouri Leading Nation in Coronavirus Cases

(Jefferson City) Missouri leads the nation in new cornavirus cases based on population.

State Epidemiologist Dr. George Turabelidze says some of the different strains of the virus are more contagious than the original one.

The Dr. says Missouri continues to experience a slowdown in vaccine demand.

The Delta variant of the coronavirus is highly contagious and is primarily targeting those not vaccinated, causing severe illness in many cases and driving up Missouri’s hospitalization rate again.
