Missouri On Using COVID Money

(Jefferson City) Missouri is one of several states trying to decide how to spend millions of federal dollars from the American Rescue Plan relief package passed earlier this year.

Hundreds of local officials had pleaded with Congress for immediate action.

Now, the money is sitting unused.

Missouri Governor Mike Parson decided not to call a special session to figure out how to spend the federal funding.

He has revealed plans for just 400 million dollars that would expand broadband service.

Republican state Representative Doug Richey says he’s not convinced Missouri needs to spend all of its funds.
