Missouri Spring Turkey Hunting Numbers up from a Year Ago

(Farmington) The Missouri Department of Conservation says hunters checked 33,355 birds during Missouri’s 2022 regular spring turkey season, which wrapped up Sunday.

Top harvest counties were Franklin with 798, Callaway had 614 and Gasconade had 606 turkeys killed.

Counting the youth hunt, Missouri turkey hunters harvested 36,251 birds this spring.

Last spring, 34,595 turkeys were harvested.

This spring’s harvest was up about 5-percent from last year but is still about 7-percent lower than the average during the last 5 years from 2017 through 2021.

Unfortunately, there were two self-inflicted firearm-related turkey hunting accidents, one fatal and one non-fatal and there were no shooter-victim hunting accidents this year.
