(Jefferson County) With the official start of winter in two weeks, the Missouri State Highway Patrol is reminding motorists to get prepared now to avoid any issues in the coming months with the colder weather and possible winter precipitation.

Corporal Dallas Thompson with the patrol says you should be getting your vehicle ready for the winter.

In addition, make sure your vehicle has plenty of gas in the tank in the event of being stranded during a winter storm.

When it comes to snow plows and clearing the roads this winter, Corporal Thompson adds MoDOT will be doing the best it can with the worker shortage that it has.

To check local road conditions throughout the winter or anytime of the year, people are encouraged to use the MoDOT Traveler Map at Traveler.MoDOt.Org.
