Missouri Supreme Court Hears Medicaid Expansion Lawsuit Case Today

(Jefferson City) To fund or not to fund Medicaid expansion was in front of the Missouri Supreme Court today.

Last August, a majority of Missouri voters supported the measure where 275-thousand low-income Missourians to be able to afford health care.

But the Republican-controlled Missouri Legislature voted against what the citizens of the state wanted.

The legislature chose not to fund the expansion.

Three low-income women who have serious health conditions sued the State and want the same coverage as those who are currently getting Medicaid.

In June, a Cole County judge ruled the ballot measure was unconstitutional because it did not contain a way to fund the expansion.

It’s unknown when the Missouri Supreme Court will make a ruling.
