Missourians Going Hungry

(Jefferson City) A new study says nearly 814-thousand Missourians lack enough healthy food.

Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization, says Pemiscot County in southeast Missouri has the highest rate of hunger in the state with 21-point-six percent, or one in five people going hungry.

Ripley County, also in southeast Missouri, had the second highest hunger rate of 20-point-six.

The information was based on indicators like poverty, unemployment, homeownership and disability prevalence.
