Mizzou Loses Bowl Game On Buzzer-Beater Field Goal, Basketball Team Gets Blown Out By Illinois

(Columbia) It was a rough night to be a fan of the Missouri Tigers. The football team lost the Lockheed Armed Forces Bowl 24-22 when the Army Black Knights hit a last-second field goal and the basketball team got blown out by Illinois by a final score of 88-63.

In the Armed Forces Bowl, Mizzou led for 47 straight minutes of game time until Army took a five point lead at the beginning of the fourth quarter. The Tigers got the ball back late and scored a touchdown with just over one minute remaining to go up 22-21. Mizzou went for two but could not convert. Army drove 51 yards in one minute and kicked a 41 yard field goal as time expired to win the game. Tigers coach Eli Drinkwitz gave his thoughts after the game.

Mizzou finishes the season 6-7.

The Tiger basketball team dropped to 6-6 after their 25-point loss to the Fighting Illini at Enterprise Center in St. Louis. Junior Jarron Coleman came off the bench to lead Mizzou in scoring with 16 points. Junior Kobe Brown contributed 13 points and freshman Trevon Brazile added 11. The Tigers return to the hardwood next Wednesday when they start conference play. They’ll head to Lexington for a battle with the #20 Kentucky Wildcats.
