MO attorney general ready to make referrals in clergy abuse investigation

Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt says his office is working with local prosecutors to formally make 12 referrals for potential criminal prosecution involving clergy abuse in the Roman Catholic Church.
The investigation looked at all four dioceses in Missouri.
Schmitt’s investigation uncovered 163 priests or clergy members accused of sexual abuse against minors.
Of the 163, 83 of the accused are dead and the statute of limitations has passed in another 46.
