MO House bill aims at halting catalytic converter thieves and buyers

(Jefferson City) House Bill 1153 has made its way through the House Transportation Committee and will take the next step. The bill was filed by Crocker Missouri State Representative Don Mayhew of the 121st District. State Representative Becky Ruth of Festus heads the Transporation Committee. She says this bill is aimed at stopping the theft of vehicle catalytic converters.

Ruth says the bill will include stiffer penalties for both the thieves and the buyers.

Theft of catalytic converters has been increasing in Jefferson County and throughout the state. House Bill 1153 has been sent to the Rules Legislative Oversight Committee.
