MODOT Gives OK to Improve Curvy Road in Reynolds & Iron Counties

(Ellington) The Missouri Department of Transportation plans to improve a lettered highway in Reynolds and Iron Counties.

Work on ‘K’ Highway will extend from 2.5 miles east of Highway 21 near Ellington to 1.3 miles west of Highway 49 near Annapolis.

Nine curves will be improved.

The project includes widening, adding edge line rumble strips, adding a guardrail to one curve and adding edge line rumble strips to eight other curves.

Right of way acquisition will only be required at the curve widening location.

The project is expected to be let for bid in January of 2023 with construction to start as early as the spring of 2023.

Traffic will continue to use the existing road during construction.

As the new pavement is tied into the existing pavement, flaggers will guide motorists through the work zone.

Completion is anticipated for late 2023.
