The Missouri Department of Conservation has added 16 counties to the list of places where an invasive insect species has been found.

Robbie Doerhoff is a forest entomologist and describes the harm caused by the emerald ash borer.

So in order to protect your ash tree from the small green bug, Doerhoff says you need to take action ahead of time.

Doerhoff says the size of your tree matters when it comes to treating it for the emerald ash borer.

If you see the emerald ash borer or notice the effects of its presence on trees in your county, call the MDC’s Forest Pest Hotline at 866-719-9974.
