Moses Austin Heritage Festival This Weekend in Potosi

(Potosi) Most of the time, Potosi gets most of the attention in Washington County because it’s the biggest town in the county.

That may not be the case this year as the community of Old Mines has received extra-attention with special events held each month highlighting Old Mines and it’s 300th anniversary.

The largest festival to honor Old Mines is coming up next weekend but this weekend, it’s Potosi’s time to shine with the Moses Austin Heritage Festival.

However, Austin Fest organizers put the spotlight right back on Old Mines.

The theme for this weekend’s festival in Potosi is “The French Edition” where Potosi will focus on their neighboring town’s long history.

Dennis Boyer is from Old Mines.

The 34th Moses Austin Heritage Festival runs this evening from 5 until 9 featuring the Billy Joe Boyer Memorial Cruise-In Parade and Car Show.

On Saturday, the Austin Fest features the traditional parade starting at 11.

There’s also live music, food trucks, kids games, craft vendors, along with cultural exhibits and living history exhibits.

Saturday’s fun in Potosi should continue until about 4 o’clock.
