(Hillsboro) The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is reporting a decrease in most crimes in 2020, while a handful of crimes did go up. Major Gary Higginbotham says a good reason for the decrease in certain crimes was because of the current pandemic.

The one constant in crimes in the county remains stolen vehicles and stealing from vehicles left unlocked. Major Higginbotham says those numbers did go up.

If there is a positive from the number of stolen vehicles, has been a high number is vehicles recovered.
