National Weather Service On Storms

(St. Louis) Parts of southeast Missouri were hit by several waves of heavy thunderstorms overnight into the morning hours on Thursday. Ben Herzog is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in St. Louis.

We recorded well over five inches of rain here at the radio station, but Herzog says some areas got even more.

However, Herzog says it could’ve been much worse.

Numerous flood watches and warnings were issued because of the rain. There were also power outages, flooded roads and tree limbs down because of the storms.
