Nelson Earns Dream Team Spot After First Winning Season for Kingston Girls

(Cadet) A terrific season for the Kingston girls basketball team saw their standout player shine once again.

Madison Nelson helped lead the Cougars to their most wins in a single season and the first season above .500 in program history en route to being named to the Girls Basketball Dream Team.

She says it means a lot to be considered one of the best in the area.

Nelson’s stats were staggering this year as she averaged over 30 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 5.3 steals, 1.6 blocks, shot 52% from the field, 38% from beyond the arc, and 85% from the free-throw line.

While the individual accolades are great, she says she was most proud of what the team accomplished this year.

It has already been a decorated and record-setting career for Nelson with still another season to go.

This season she became the first Kingston girl to reach 1,500 points and set the school record for points in a single game with 48.

Nelson has certainly been a big part of the turnaround for Cougars girls basketball, but she says a lot of the credit goes to the stability Christian Moulton has provided as head coach over the past two seasons.

This season Nelson was named All-Conference, All-District, and helped lead the Kingston girls to a (13-9) record.
