Never Opened Jay Nixon State Park in Reynolds County to get Dam Work

(Reynolds County) A 60-acre mountain top lake in a state park that has never been open to the public will be repaired according to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.

Jay Nixon State Park in Reynolds County was purchased in 2015 with ASARCO Lead Company environmental settlement money.

However, the 12-hundred acre park has no facilities and was closed by Governor Greitens due to public safety concerns.

Now, the D.N.R. is seeking contractors to repair the 410-foot long dam that was built in 1975 and holds the water of Fire Pit Lake.

Jay Nixon State Park is located near Taum Sauk Mountain State Park in Iron County.
