New Airport Project Discussed at Perryville City Council Meeting

(Perryville) The largest airport in the Regional Radio listening area is located in the city of Perryville.

City Administrator Brent Buerck tells about a new airport project that was discussed during Tuesday night’s city council meeting.

Since the runway in Perryville is so long, Buerck says it is deemed an emergency runway for large aircraft, plus it is used by jets right now.

In mid-April, the Perryville Airport was awarded 20-thousand dollars from the federal CARES Emergency Stimulus Act from the federal government.

However, Buerck says the City did not accept that money so it could go to an airport that has been actually affected by the pandemic.

Buerck says their airport was not affected by Covid-19.

In other news from Tuesday night’s Perryville City Council meeting, an inflatable obstacle course was purchased for a little more than 10-thousand dollars to be used at the swimming pool at the Perry Park Center.

Also, an update was given on the shared use path project which will eventually become a concrete trail from Miget Park to the soccer complex.
